CE Skoolie

As Community Education programs grow, our need for programming space has become a barrier to offering new and fun opportunities for both youth and families. We know there are families in our district that may not have transportation or financial means to attend our programming. So...we're bringing programming to you!

Community Education has transformed a school bus for community programming. A Skoolie (or Schoolie) by definition is a school bus that is converted into a recreational vehicle. We are so excited to bring innovative programming to South Washington County School through this new mobile classroom.

CE Skoolie allows Community Education to offer convenient, affordable activities for kids to do on weeknights, non-school days, summer, and even weekends.

CE Skoolie community outcome goals:

  • Greater access to programming.
  • Greater participation and a more diverse population served.
  • More convenient options with the availability of neighborhood classes.
  • More affordable course offerings.
  • Smaller class sizes with more personalized learning for youth enrichment.
  • Ultimately, improved academics of students in District 833 with more opportunities for enrichment.

Over the winter months, Skoolie serves as a pop-up shop for you to explore and purchase (at a very low cost) prom, wedding, quinceañera, dance and formal occasion dresses.

During the summer months, Skoolie and its partners will be offering 'Family Fun Nights' through out the community offering free food and activities Monday - Thursday evenings from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. beginning June 17.

Look for Skoolie at the locations and dates to the right. Check back often, as dates are continually added!

Interested in hosting a pop-up shop at your location? We'd love to partner with you! Contact Sue McKeown at 651-425-6608 or smckeown@sowashco.org for more information.
