COVID-19 Updates

Revised 8/10/20

South Washington County Schools works closely with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Washington County Department of Health to determine action steps for a reported case of COVID-19. Each case is unique and public health officials will guide our response. In general:

  • If public health officials determine a case is low risk, they will not inform the district.
    • Low risk means that the specifics of a case (social distancing measures, cleanliness, types of contacts with others, when symptoms developed, etc.), is similar to walking around in public areas.
    • In low risk cases, other people do not need to isolate unless symptoms develop.
    • Multiple low risk cases in the same activity/classroom/program (e.g. a few students testing positive a couple days apart) will likely not have individual notifications if they are from the same initial source.
  • A close contact means anyone who was within six feet of the person who is sick while they were considered to be infectious (two days prior to symptoms), for 15 minutes or more.
    • These individuals must quarantine for 14 days even with a negative test result.

Please review our COVID-19 Communication Protocols on our District webpage.

Revised 5/28/20

Dear Community Education Participants,

Along with Governor Walz's approval to move forward with running summer camps/classes, we have developed a set of protocols that our staff and camp/class instructors will follow for all outdoor camps and indoor camps

UPDATED JUNE 9: indoor sports camps will begin June 22.

Please read about our new protocols (listed above) and if you wish to sign-up for summer registration, be sure that you and your child understand them and are willing to follow them. It is important for the health and safety of all participants, that these are adhered to.

You will be required to self-report your child’s health and temperature each day prior to camp/class beginning. This information will be logged daily. To ensure the safety of all participants, if your child has a temperature over 100 degrees, or has been exposed to someone who is ill, they should not be sent to camp. We ask that you let us know if your child or someone in your child's household has been exposed to COVID-19 or any illness so that we may take appropriate precautions to keep camps/classes safe for everyone involved.

If you have registered for a camp/class and decide not to send your child, please email us at and we will issue a credit to your account.

Thank you for your continued support,
Community Education

A charge will be placed on your card one week prior to the class start date. Should the class need to cancel, you will be notified.

    Revised 3/29/20

    Dear Valued Community Member,

In continued response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all enrichment classes and activities that fall between the dates of March 28 - May 3, 2020 have been cancelled.

We are in unprecedented times. With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the incredible speed at which things are changing around us, we are continually adapting our operations and business. At this time, we are working on crediting your account (pro-rated for classes or sessions that were already in session) for the enrichment class or activity that was cancelled. If a class or session extends beyond May 3, the entire session has been cancelled and accounts will be credited accordingly.

Thank you again for your continued patience as we work to process your accounts. We value your patronage and commitment to lifelong learning and look forward to seeing you in the future.

We are providing distance learning whenever possible including Adult Basic Education and Early Learning.
